We attended Beauty Changes Lives Gala with Sam Villa & his co-founders to celebrate how the beauty industry offers a flexible and lucrative career option for many. Beauty Changes Lives is a nonprofit that gives scholarships to individuals pursuing a path to become a cosmetologist, barber, nail tech, and esthetician.
Sam Villa hosted, alongside Elizabeth Faye, whose story as a trouble teen in Las Vegas changed after a hairdresser shifted the trajectory of her life. This awe-inspring evening featured some of the greatest speakers and attendees in the beauty industry including Jean Paul Dejoria, co-founder of Paul Mitchell brand. We heard stories of scholarship recipients whose entire lives have shifted after launching their career in the beauty industry.
Why is this event and organization important? We believe that a career in this industry can support many of the individuals we serve directly at The Beyond Project. We have met multiple women coming out of human trafficking, domestic violence and other hard circumstances who are looking to enter into these professions. The schooling is between 6 and 14 months and they can begin to provide for their families along and be self-sufficient following such trauma-filled pasts. We were grateful to attend with our Corporate Partners at Sam Villa Co.
