“Thank you for planning everything for all of us girls. I never would have been able to talk like that in front of people before. This helped me feel more brave.” -12 year old girl This was shared following an afternoon of girls receiving haircuts & bubble braids with pink hair weaved into the braids (see photo). They got to go to a night at the Oscars, at a camp that was hosted by Salvation Army in Wasilla, Alaska for 12-18 year old girls who are at risk and in the foster care system.
We launched our first Beyond Project in Alaska through a volunteer lead we worked with in San Diego & our contacts at Salvation Army who both reached out to us the same week! Our continual reminder that our role as an organization is to be a connection point between the nonprofit agencies and the volunteers who want to serve.
